Editorial with Useful Links of Southern Maine locations!

Just into Maine is Exit #19 formally exit #2 off The Maine Turnpike (I95). This Wells exit brings you to Route 1 and of course into
Wells Center Itself . Going south on Route 1 gets you to scenic Ogunquit. And, going north on Route 1 brings you to Kennebunk/Kennebunkport, (The Summer Home of Former President and Mrs. George Bush). Traveling a few minutes more north will bring you to the quaint small Cities of Biddeford/Saco, where you will find The University of New England , a participant in the Elderhostel Program . And, the picturesque, tranquil, Biddeford Pool Area .

For the "kid" in all of us, Saco is the home of FunTown/SplashTown U.S.A., which touts having the newest and tallest wooden roller coaster in Northern New England. Then there is the renown Town of Old Orchard Beach , with it's 7 miles of sandy beach. For those of you who enjoy the fun and excitement of harness racing you will find in the Town of Scarborough one of the top tracks in Maine, Scarborough Downs.

For shoppers, Southern Maine is about one half hour North of the Kittery Outlet Haven and about 45 minutes South of the Freeport Shopper's Mecca . If you are into Antiques or a Collector you'll want to travel Route 1 as it abounds with hundreds of Antique and Collector Shops. For the bird and wildlife aficionado the area is virtually "paradise", as wildlife abounds and The Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge is every where.

For your morning coffee and newspaper you might want to visit the famous Maine Diner . The area allows you to enjoy all of Maine's four beautiful Seasons . Speaking of "enjoy", for your dining pleasure the area has some of Maine's finest Restaurants (scroll down and use the explore option on the left hand side). And, right in Kennebunkport is Maine's finest, the only 5 Diamond restaurant in the State, The White Barn Inn .
